George H. Black, Jr., 80 years of age, of Blairstown, NJ, formerly of Navesink, NJ, died at his home on April 7, 2013. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was a son of the late George H and Margaret (Farley) Black. Mr. Black was the owner/operator of Glenview Christmas Tree Farm in Blairstown and had earlier been the owner of Black Construction Company in Monmouth County, NJ. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Navy from 1951-55. Mr. Black was an exempt fireman, and had been a member of both the Navesink Fire Company and the Brevent Park Fire Company. He was a member of the NJ Federation of Sportsmans Clubs, Navesink Gun Club, Masonic Lodge #172, Atlantic Highlands, also New Jersey Christmas Tree Growers, Blairstown Business Association, and Bricklayers Local #5NJ. George is survived by his loving family; his wife, the former Helen Sodon, one daughter, Judy L. Black of Stroudsburg, PA, two sons, David B. Black and his wife, Daniel G. Black and wife, Colleen, all of Navesink, NJ, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two brothers, Frederick W. Black of Manchester, NJ and James S. Black of Locust, NJ , and one sister, Margaret Christian of Omaha, NE. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Shea. Funeral services were held April 11 at Knowlton United Methodist Church, Rt 94, Hainesburg, NJ. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, will be appreciated to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Foundation, 99 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ.
